2013 Study Tour Report: The Next Generation of Consumerization

Our 2013 Study Tour focused on issues to do with the employee and customer of the future: identity, security, personal data stores and agents, new skills to deal with the huge volumes of data, new forms of user interface. 

The changes that have been driving BYOT efforts for employees – increased technical understanding, increased ownership of devices and access to a growing set of services – also apply to consumers. BYOT was considered to be an issue mostly for IT departments, but the newly tech-savvy customer is of concern to the whole organization. This report summarizes what we heard on the tour, and the actions and lessons delegates took away to enable their organizations to better prepare for the next generation of consumerization.
