2012 Study Tour Report: The Future of Do-It-Yourself Technology

Our 2012 Study Tour focused on The Future of Do-It-Yourself Technology. This topic arose from our work on the previous study tour topic, Preparing for a Post-PC World, and our earlier report The Future of Retained IT – Repositioned at the Front of the Firm.

In that report, we describe three models by which Enterprise IT can look forward and add value. One is the Do-It-Yourself model, where IT’s key role is to deploy the platforms, agents and clean data for employees to use to meet their own information needs in the ways they choose to suit themselves. This report summarizes what we heard on the tour, and the actions and lessons delegates took away to enable their organizations to better prepare for the onset of the future of DIY Technology.
